January 30, 1954 - April 6, 2020
Dale Gerard Moran was born on January 30, 1954 in Red Deer, AB to Eugene and Loretta Moran. He took his schooling in Wimborne, Huxley and Trochu, graduating in 1973. Dale attended SAIT for 1 year in Automotive Technology (1974-1975) before returning home to farm with his father - an occupation he worked diligently at until his retirement in 2007.
Other jobs that Dale held throughout the years included meat-cutting at Coors Meats in Calgary, car and light truck sales at Nissan and Toyota in Red Deer, and heavy equipment operator in construction.
On July 31, 1976, Dale married Dianne Ruby of Three Hills. They lived 1 year in Calgary, then the remainder of their 43 year marriage on the family farm west of Huxley. They raised three sons, Trevor (1980), Joel (1982), and Dane (1987).
Dale was an innovator and enjoyed all modern farming technologies, as seen in his farming practice and machinery purchases. He was an early adaptor to computer technology in both farming and his personal life. He enthusiastically participated in several sports in his early years and enjoyed coaching his boys in minor hockey. In his later years, Dale enjoyed his daily sports from the comfort of an armchair.
Dale and Dianne travelled together to many areas of the world both alone and with friends. They spent a great deal of time boating & entertaining at their vacation properties in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, Shuswap Lake, BC and Buffalo Lake, Alberta. Dale was a very social person and was energized by his friends. He was known for his sense of humour and all of his friends and family have lived through his teasing.
Dale was diagnosed with ALS in September 2014 and valiantly fought this disease until his death on April 6, 2020.
He leaves to mourn his wife Dianne, sons Trevor (Kaye Andrews), Joel (Carina Solda) and Dane (Leanne MacIssac), 7 grandchildren (Daniel, Noah, Emily, Liam, Cara, Ryann, Brea), mother Loretta Moran, sisters Charlotte Moran (Luiji deMarzo), Dianne Moran (Norm Christiansen), Darlene Moran, Rhonda Moran (John Peacock), Cathy Ryan (Bernie Courchene), sisters in law Pat Ruby, Eleanor (Kevin) Kubinec, Lorri Weir (Michael Shah), brother in law John Ruby and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
If desired, Memorial donations may be directed to the ALS Society of Alberta.
A virtual prayer service will be posted on the Dale Moran Memorial Facebook page this week and a celebration of his life will be announced at a later date.
