DAY 1935 – 2005. H. Michael C. Day, “A Man in a Million”, died in Red Deer on October 13, 2005, after a brief period of illness. He is survived, and lovingly remembered, by his beloved wife Margaret and his adored children, Helen, Ian & Sandra “daughter in law #1”, Malcolm & Sho “daughter in law #2”. He leaves behind an extended family of friends who will miss his quick wit, keen mind, and steadying hand on the throttle. Mike was born in Liverpool, England and immigrated to Canada in 1959 to work at Redpath’s Sugar Refinery in Montreal as their electrical engineer. He moved with his family to Red Deer in 1976 to be the City Manager, serving with dedication until his retirement in 1998. Mike dearly loved Red Deer, and was especially proud of his 22 years of service to the City, and his ongoing contribution to the community. The Day family would like to thank Dr. Hamilton and the surgical staff, Dr. Jim and the dialysis team, the nursing staff, the respiratory technicians and everyone else involved in Mike’s care in Emergency, the Intensive Care Unit and other departments. Their expertise, compassion and care of Mike and his family knew no bounds. A service to celebrate Mike’s life will take place at St. Leonard’s-on-the-Hill (4241 – 44 St., Red Deer, Alberta) at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 21, 2005.
