DECK, (Bryant - Webber) 1928 - 2006 Mrs. Dora Elizabeth "Betty" Deck of Red Deer, passed away peacefully after a very lengthy illness, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Saturday, September 23, 2006 at the age of 78 years. Betty was born on August 26, 1928 at Killarney Lake, Alberta. She was the eighth child of nine born to Lloyd and Ellen Webber. Betty was a busy mother to her own six children and later to her additional six stepchildren. Betty loved her church community and was very involved in many of the activities of the Salvation Army, such as the Home League, the Super Sixties, visiting the Nursing Homes, Christmas Kettles, and the Local Thrift Stores. Betty and her late husband, Frank, were instrumental in starting up the Salvation Army Thrift Store in Rocky Mountain House, prior to Frank's passing in April of 1991. Betty was also very involved with and loved the many friends she made over the years at the Wilderness Village Camp Club, west of Rocky Mountain House. She was an active member on the Board for many of those years, and lived many winters in her RV at the campground. Mom / Grandma will be lovingly remembered by her children, Herb (Carol), Ab (Celia), Jim (Linda), Deb (Tony), Anna (John) and Tammy (Carl), fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. She will also be sadly missed by her stepsons, Rick, Ken, Tim, Jack and Kevin and their families, one brother, Arnold Webber and sister and brother - in - law, Kay and Roy Cote. Mom was predeceased by her parents, five sisters and one brother, her husband, Frank Deck and his son, Frankie, the father of her children, Floyd Bryant and four grandchildren, Clayton, Jessie (Kevin), Timmy and Jason. A Public Funeral Service will be held at the Salvation Army Church, 4837 - 54th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Wednesday, September 27, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. with Major Fred Heintzman officiating. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Betty's honour may be made directly to the Alberta Lung Association, P.O. Box 4700, Stn.
