Delia LAWRENCE

LAWRENCE, Delia Elvira Mrs. Delia Elvira 'Vera' Lawrence (nee Luoma) of Red Deer, passed away at the Red Deer Nursing Home on Friday, January 14, 2005 at the age of 83 years. Vera was born on May 28, 1921 at Eckville, Alberta. During the time Vera lived in Red Deer, she worked at the Club Café. Vera and her husband, Clifford moved to the farm in 1952, where she was involved in and pursued all aspects of farm life. Vera was an active member of the Hillsdown Women's Institute for fifty years. She greatly enjoyed the quilting bees every winter, making quilts for the family or for raffles. Her talented handicrafts and baking won ribbons at the Red Deer Fair for many years. Vera will be very sadly missed but lovingly remembered and cherished in the hearts of her family and dear friends. Vera leaves to mourn her loss, her loving children; Lorraine Carpenter, Myrna (Ken) Thorne, Donna (Ron) Paulson, Kenneth and Barry (Marina), her grandchildren, Sarah and Jodi Paulson and extended grandchildren, Nicole and Derek Starr. She will also be dearly remembered by her sister, Miriam Swartz of Edmonton, as well as her many nieces and nephews, numerous other relatives and close friends. Vera was predeceased by her beloved husband of sixty years, Clifford in August 2004, her parents, Eric and Othealia Luoma, brothers, John, Ray, Eidel, Matt, Eino, Ernest, Eugene, Elmer, sisters, Sylvia Lund and Marie Gabara and a son-in-law, Amos Carpenter. A Celebration of Vera's Life will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapels, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 1:00 p.m. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Vera's honour may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, 101, 5208 - 53rd Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 5K2. The Family would like to thank Dr. Tillier and the staff at the Red Deer Nursing Home for their kindness and caring.
