Dennis Ingvold

Dennis was born in Edmonton, Alberta to John Hougan and Inger Simonson. He graduated from University of Alberta with his Professional Engineering degree in 1948. He invented a transmitional meter for the main gas trunk lines in his eight years working for Northwestern Utilities. He also studied three years theology finishing in 1959 at Saint Stevens College in Edmonton, however, was never ordained.

Dennis met Margaret Leona Hemphill and they were married in 1957. In 1960 they moved to Red Deer where they had two children Heidi Dandurand (Mike) and Leif Hougan (Tita). He worked in the department of Public Welfare in Red Deer for five years following their marriage. Following this he opened his own engineering firm, Unique Designs and Engineering which he ran for 22 years. For many years he volunteered in many outreach groups in Red Deer including the Peoples Place, Golden Circle and Loaves and Fishes.

Dennis was predeceased by brothers Arnold and Norman Hougan. He will be lovingly remembered by Heidi's children Rachelle, Ryan (Heather Byun) and Elise Dandurand (Ella, great-granddaughter), Leif and Tita's children Johan (Chelsea Kind and great-granddaughter Alina), Isabella, and Alejandro.

A celebration of his life will be held at Gaetz United Church, Thursday, January 12 at 1:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Mustard Seed Society would be greatly appreciated.
