SMITH
It is with great sadness that the family of (Lieutenant) Derrell Sydney Smith announce his passing at the Innisfail Health Centre on Tuesday August 19, 2014 after his recent battle with cancer, at the age of 72 years. Derrell was born August 15, 1942. Derrell will forever, lovingly be remembered by his three children; Richard Smith, Kelly Hodgins (Lee) and Jacqueline Corry; his seven grandchildren; Matthew, Micheal & Ashleigh McKeever; Lyndsey Smith and Brenna, Rowan & Mason Corry. He will also be fondly remembered by siblings; Sharon Megyesi (Van), Angela Kephart and Gary Smith (Debbie); nephews, nieces and dear friends. Derrell was predeceased by his wife Cherie Smith (nee Percy) in 2009; his mother Etta Smith (nee White) in 2009, his father Sydney Smith and his brother David.
A funeral service will be held at the Heartland Funeral Service Chapel (4415-49th St. Innisfail, AB.) on Tuesday August 26, 2014 at 10AM. If friends so desire, donations may be made to the Alberta Cancer Foundation (http://albertacancer.ca/donate) in memory of Derrell Smith in lieu of flowers.
