Dick Spilde

In loving memory ~
Mr. Dick Brooks Spilde passed away, following a brief illness, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at the age of 83 years. Dick was born on January 8, 1940 in Provost, Alberta to Norm and Neale Spilde.
He grew up in Cadogan before moving to Provost in his teenage years. After High School, Dick farmed with his dad in the Cadogan area and eventually took over the family business. Dick married Janet Turnbull in 1962 and together raised three daughters. In his younger years, Dick was involved in the Kinsman Club, and was an avid curler and golfer. Through these activities lifelong friendships were established. It was because of their love for golf that Dick and Janet started spending their winters in Queen Valley, Arizona.
He thoroughly enjoyed being a snowbird and continued travelling south after losing Janet. The friendships he established there were considered family. Dick will be lovingly remembered by his daughters, Daphne (Dan) Wold of Edmonton, Alberta, Marsha Millard of Red Deer, Alberta and Lana Johanson of Red Deer, Alberta; his grandchildren, Emily (Dan) McLeod, Kira (Brad) Kulhavy, Devan (Cody) Mercereau, Curtis (Jensyn) Johanson and Jack Millard; and his two great grandchildren, Joseph and Hunter McLeod. Dick will also be sadly missed by his brother, Lewis Spilde of Provost, Alberta, as well as many other family members and dear friends. Dick was predeceased by his wife, Janet and his parents, Norman and Neale Spilde.
A Celebration of Dick's Life will be held at Parkland Funeral Home, 6287 - 67 A Street (Taylor Drive), Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, February 21, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. If desired, Memorial Donations in Dick's honor may be made directly to the Central Alberta Humane Society at www.cahumane.com.
