Dixie LEURER

LEURER Dixie Leurer (nee Laughlin) of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on December 29, 2007 at the age of 74 years. Dixie was born on September 2, 1933 in Hanna. She lived in Saskatchewan, then in Washington with her mother and two sisters during WWII and upon her fathers return, moved back to Canada, subsequently living in various locations in Alberta. She married the love of her life in Calgary on September 5, 1956 then suspended her career with AGT to raise her four children, ultimately retiring from her clerk position of many years with the Red Deer City R.C.M.P. detachment. She adored her children and grandchildren and will be missed by us all. Dixie is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Ray, one son, Randal (Norma) Leurer of Calgary, three daughters; Tracey (Barry) Ball of Red Deer, Marnie (Al) Frenette of Sylvan Lake and Shannon Leurer of Red Deer. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and her two sisters; Nonie (Don) Miller and Virginia Kelly both of Calgary. She was predeceased by her father, Ray Laughlin in 1972 and her mother, Lillian Laughlin in 1998. Dixie's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Catholic Church (6 McMillan Avenue) on Friday, January 4, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with Father Paul Kavanagh Celebrant. Following the service and refreshments at the church there will be a gathering at the Mess/Armories (44 Avenue and 55 Street).
