Donald Leslie Moore of Red Deer, Alberta passed away on December 2, 2024 at the age of 96.
Born in Calgary on August 16, 1928, Don is survived by Gloria, wife of 73 years, five children Rick (Suzanne), Glenn (Wendy), Linda (Lloyd), Judy (Sue) and Liz (Blair), nine grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren, sister-in-Law Janice (Laverne) Anderson and many nieces and nephews.
Don started his career in Recreation with the City of Red Deer in 1954. He was instrumental in the development of many facilities and parks in Red Deer earning him numerous honours. Don coached multiple sports, promoted volunteerism, believed in recreation opportunities for all and was inducted into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame.
After retiring in 1987, he continued to contribute to the Parks and Recreation community while also enjoying fishing, travel, time with family and friends and golfing at Riverbend.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Gaetz United Church (4758-50 St. Red Deer) on December 28, 2024 at 11 am.
