Donald “Murray” Edwards of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the age of 85 years.

Murray was born and raised in the Red Deer area and attended school at the Waskasoo School and then Red Deer Composite High School.

Murray got the trucking bug from working for his Brother-in-law, Ross Tomalty, whom he later bought his trucks from. Murray partnered with Alf Kits and started as Edwards and Kits. Murray then ventured out on his own as Edwards Trucking and Welding that he operated for 44 years.

Murray served his Lord and Savior at Balmoral Bible Chapel where he was a faithful lifetime member.

Murray loved to travel with his wife, family, and his friends, and enjoyed many memorable trips around the globe.

Murray is lovingly remembered by his wife of over 60 years, Marbie; Son Donald (Cathy); children Melissa (Glen Stewart); their son Maxwell; Jeffrey; Michelle, and her son Mason; Daughter Shauna (Paul Dunbar) and children Julia (Ryan Jantzi); Justin (Rachelle), and their daughter Melanie. His brothers Ivan, Allan (Marion), Lewis (Eunice); Sisters in law Ruth Edwards and Freda Huber; Brother in law Ornan Huber (Ethel) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Murray was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Louisa; infant brother Gordon; brother Bill (Beth) Jack; Sister Verna Tomalty (Ross); Brothers in law Rueben Huber, Alvin (Cynthia) Huber; Sisters in law Norma Edwards, Ella Butler (Jim); Dorothy Edwards.

A celebration of Murray’s life will be held at the Deer Park Alliance Church, 2960 – 39 Street, Red Deer AB on Monday, February 26, 2018, at 1 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to “Bet Shalom”, a cause with a lot of meaning to Murray. Bet Shalom is a shelter located in Zihuatanejo for high risk Seniors. For those wishing to do so, donations must be made to the Balmoral Bible Chapel, 2700 – 55 ST, Red Deer AB T4P 0X1, mark designated to “Bet Shalom”
