Donalda SMYTHE

SMYTHE Donalda Janice (Donna) Smythe of Lacombe passed away at the Lacombe Hospital and Care Centre on November 25, 2004 at the age of 83 years. Donna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, hired hand and volunteer. She was born and raised in the Medicine Hat area, moving to Winnipeg to study nursing at the St. Bonafice Hospital in 1940. Upon returning to Medicine Hat after graduation, Donna worked in the Medicine Hat Hospital until she met and married Stanley Smythe. She began her married life in Calgary and started her family. In 1963 they moved to Lacombe and Stan and Donna tackled cattle farming with Donna becoming the hired hand as well as raising her two sons. She was a Cub Scout Leader, a member of The Hospital Auxiliary, the IODE and was on the stewardship committee of St. Andrew's United Church. Predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1984 she is survived by her loving family, two sons, Murray (Cheryl), Grant (Jane) and niece Michelle (Graham), as well as four grandchildren, Warren and Stefani Smythe and Alexandra and Quinn Russell and a host of good friends. Friends wishing to pay their respects may do so at Wilson's Funeral Chapel 6120 Highway 2A Lacombe on Tuesday evening November 30, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. Cremation is entrusted to Central Alberta Crematorium. Funeral Services will be held from St. Andrew's United Church on Wednesday, December 1, 2004 at 1:30 p.m. If friends desire memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association, #6 5015 - 48 St. Red Deer, AB, T4N 1S9.
