STRATING, Donna Jeanne

1956-2017

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donna Jeanne Strating. Donna was born August 15, 1956 in Riverside New Jersey and left us on December 17, 2017 in Red Deer, Alberta. Donna was 61 years young.

Donna was predeceased by her mom Joan Barbara Kershaw(Coward) and her dad Ronald Abraham Kershaw. Donna will be greatly missed and forever cherished by husband Roxy Harbourne, sons Bryant and Jon Harbourne, Jon's wife Cory and their children June and Hunter; son Jason Paul Anderson and wife Elisabeth; daughter Kelly Jeanne Anderson, her husband Danny Zepeda and their son James; brother Ron Kershaw and wife Joy; sister Cindy Kershaw and partner Marilyn McGuire; sister Barb Eckert, her husband Bryan, their son Jeffrey Eckert, their daughter Stephanie Eckert and her partner Nick Gomez and their son Miles.

Donna was a very dedicated, accomplished and caring person. She loved her family dearly and no task was too small when it came to letting them know she supported them. She was very passionate about horses, especially the sport of reining, and was very active with Reining Alberta. She will be dearly missed by her horses, and by her many other pets.

Donna loved a challenge and excelled in her field. As a talented and respected executive and IT visionary, she applied herself daily to improving organizations and businesses through technology. In recent years her career included working with Capital Health/Alberta Health Services in Edmonton, and then with Parkland Fuel Corporation in Red Deer, Alberta. She was instrumental in the implementation, development and optimization of Alberta's Health Link (patient call center), Netcare (health information exchange) and eCLINICIAN (enterprise electronic medical record system). With Parkland Fuel Corp her work was focused on the seamless integration of acquired businesses and improving protocols surrounding a variety of IT challenges. The bigger the challenge, the more she liked it and Donna spent countless hours setting others up for success.

Donna faced cancer with this same tenacity, looking to better understand the disease and possible treatment options. Her courage and indomitable spirit will always be remembered. As per Donna's wishes she will be cremated and no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to continue Donna's fight against Ovarian Cancer.
