1915 – 2011

Dora Alice Wegreen passed into the presence of the Lord on August 17, 2011 at the age of 96 years. Dora was born in Harper, Kansas, U.S.A. on January 10, 1915 to Charles and Maude Parsons. In 1918, they immigrated to Alberta, settling on a farm in the Duhamel District. In 1924, she travelled with her family to Phoenix, Oregon in covered wagons. The family travelled back to Penhold, Alberta in 1925 and then on to Westlock, Alberta in 1926 where they homesteaded. She was blessed with four brothers and seven sisters. Dora married Walter Wegreen in 1943 and following his return from World War II, they took up residence in Red Deer. She loved the great outdoors and down through the years enjoyed gardening, travelling and accompanying Walter on many fishing trips. Dora was a long standing member of First Baptist Church, Red Deer where she served on various committees and enjoyed the fellowship of the church family.

She will be lovingly remembered byher children: Dr. Vivian R. Ramsden and her children, Heather and Joshua of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; and, Gerald A. Wegreen (Ann) and their children, Leah, Nathan (Sheila), Carrie and Christina of Fairview, Alberta. She was also blessed with three great-grandchildren (Zachary, Christian and Tyren); her sisters: Pearl Neumann, Carol Graham and Betty Cook; Sister-In-Law, Mary Parsons; and Brother-In-Law, Lawrence Graham as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Dora was predeceased by her parents, Charles in 1971 and Maude in 1975; her loving husband, Walter in 1978; her brothers (Marion, Deisel, Leslie, Jack); and, her sisters (Helen, Avis, Norma, Ethelyn). As per Mom’s wishes, a Graveside Service was held on August 20, 2011 for her immediate family. A Celebration of her Life will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at First Baptist Church, (4310-39 Street, Red Deer). Please wear bright colours in memory of Dora. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either the First Baptist Church, Red Deer; the Canadian Bible Society; or, the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta Condolences may be forwarded to the family by visiting
