HEDLIN Doraine Elizabeth May 29, 1916 - Feb. 21, 2009 Doraine Hedlin passed away February 21, 2009 at the age of 92 years. Doraine is survived by her son Ken, his wife Karen, and her grandchildren Leslie and Robert. Doraine was predeceased by her parents Mary and Henry Powell, her sisters Thelma and Mary, her brothers Millard, Harry, Bill, and Jack, her husband Dave, and son Russell. Doraine was born in High River and worked in her father's bakery until her marriage in 1948. After living in Edmonton, Dave and Doraine moved to Lacombe in 1951, with one year old Kenneth. Doraine was an accomplished singer and pianist. She led the St. Andrews United Church senior choir for many years in the 1950's and 1960's as well as teaching both singing and piano to many local children. During the 1960's and 1970's she was the librarian for the Lacombe Public Library. She and Dave were active in the Lacombe community, generously supporting community projects including the new swimming pool and library. Doraine touched many lives especially her family who will miss her very much. She was a loving and caring person, who had a soft spot for children, never letting a baby pass by without a hug or a kiss. The family wants to pass on their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to all the nurses, aides and staff at the Lacombe Extended Care Unit for the exceptional care and personal attention Doraine consistently received while at the facility. Funeral services will be held from St. Andrew's United Church 5226-51 Ave Lacombe on Monday, March 2, 2009 at 1:30 P.M.
