On the morning of October 14th, 2019 Doreen "Nanny" passed away peacefully at the Foothills Med. Centre in Calgary.
Doreen was born and raised in Stopsley, England, and grew up as a teenager during WWII; sewing soldiers uniforms. At 19, she married soldier Kenneth McLean and in 1946, came to Canada as a War Bride and started a new life in Phoenix (Near Nordegg), AB.
In 1961, Doreen married Jack VanLune and lived in Red Deer, AB, until 2011. During her later years, she resided in Carstairs, Cochrane and Calgary before her passing.
Nanny will always be remembered for her self-taught sewing and Christmas craft shows. She always had time for family and friends.
She leaves to mourn sons Ray and Don McLean; daughter Keltie (Stan) Masters; numerous grandchildren; and oodles of great grandchildren. Doreen was predeceased by son Arlen, and son- in-law David Olsen.
A funeral service will be held at Eventide in Red Deer on October 22nd, at 1 pm. Followed by tea upstairs.
