Doris Olive Dietrich (nee Ault) passed away peacefully at her home on November 27, 2009 at the age of 78, surrounded by her loving family. Running to meet her with open arms were her husband, Alfred, her daughters, Linda Pothier and Gail Dietrich, her grandson, Ryan Pothier, her brothers, Walter and Stan and her sister Kay. She is survived by her sister Faye Wilcox, by her children, son-in law Brian Pothier (Linda), Lyle (Sandy) Dietrich, Steven (Sharon) Dietrich, Marie (Frank) Harris, Ann (Alan) Riddle and Dan Dietrich; her grandchildren, Angela (Scott), Kim, Kris, Michelle (Steve), Jessica, Travis, Cassandra, Carley, Colbey, Aaron, Angelina and her great-granddaughter, Adrianna. Doris was born to Bernard and Rose Ault in Galahad, AB on April 21, 1931. She was raised in Heisler, AB. Doris married Al Dietrich Jan 4, 1950 and started their new life in Turner Valley. Their family started to grow with the additions of Linda, Gail, Lyle and Steve. Then in 1960 the family picked up roots and moved to Didsbury, further additions to the family were Marie, Ann and Dan. Doris had a talent with her hands and sewed many of the clothes her children wore; she also knitted, crocheted and made her "Grandma Hug" blankets. Some of her other favorite things were Bingo, Horse races, spending hours doing crossword puzzles, gardening and spending time with family and friends. She was also actively involved in the CWL, St Anthony's Parish, Friends of St Lucia and the Boy Scouts for many years. Doris became a world traveler and enjoyed many trips with members of her family to locations like New York, Disney Land, Houston, Portugal, England and her last trip was to Fatima. Doris will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Special thanks to Home Care, Companions Caring for U (Shirley and Peggy), Dr. Hoeve, Dr. Jackson, Margaret Baril and especially Aunt Faye for her time with her sister. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2009 at 7:00pm at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Didsbury. Mass Of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 2, 2009 at 9:30am at St. Stephen's Catholic Church, Olds. Interment to follow at the Didsbury Cemetery.
