VAN MEEL Dorothy van Meel passed away peacefully June 12, 2006 at Valley Park Manor in Red Deer, she was surrounded by her family. She passed away in a room filled with love. Dorothy was such an example to those with whom she loved of unconditional love and true kindness. Her love for her family was unwavering to the end. She was an excellent mother, grandmother,great-grandmother, friend, cook, baker and homemaker. She enjoyed gardening and always had huge beautiful gardens and flowers in every possible place. Her life was her children; she was like a little mother hen even at 92 years old. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her and those whose lives she touched. Dorothy was predeceased by her son Richard in 1972 and her husband Tony in 1988. Her surviving children; Bill Chappell of Stony Plain, Marlene Augart of Spruce View and Lynda Samson of Red Deer. She had 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Her passing has left a great void in our lives, but she also left us a shining example of how to love and to care for one another. A Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 16, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. from Mountain View Funeral Chapel Olds, Alberta. Interment followed at the Didsbury Cemetery, Didsbury, Alberta. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
