August 18, 1940 - July 20, 2020
Douglas was born August 18th 1940 to Charles and Emily (Lorenz) Halladay in Cardston AB. He was the middle son, his brothers are Gerald and Darcy. They were raised on a farm in Bluffton AB.
When he was 18 he joined the army and moved to London ON where he met and married Margaret Rose Merriam, the mother of his daughters Deborah Heddington (David) and Bonnie Sutherland (Brad) who is the mother of his grandsons Jordan and Mitchell.
Doug joined 2 more families in Ontario, first with Sharon and her daughters Angela and Tabatha, then with Lynn and her children, Marcia, Brian, Jennifer and Billie. He was lucky to be able to spend his later years with his best friend Lois.
He is predeceased by his parents Charles and Emily Halladay.
After retiring from his career in Ontario he took the chance to move back out west to Rossland BC in order to spend the rest of his days on the ski slopes.
He was forever busy, running around the BC interior doing renovations and projects including looking after things in his apartment building. He loved gathering with friends at Legion #14, playing music and singing and travelling to visit his family and friends in Ontario and Alberta. He especially enjoyed his greatest passion, skiing.
Sadly, a service honouring Doug's many years of service to our Country and also to his Legion is not able to happen during the pandemic. We hope to host something for him when it is possible at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 14, Rossland, BC.
Cremation has taken place, Gwen Ziprick of Alternatives Funeral and Cremation Services has been entrusted with the arrangements. You are invited to leave a personal message of condolence by visiting his family's register at www.myalternatives.ca
