McLAY, Douglas M. A., Superintendent (RTD) RCMP, passed away peacefully with courage and dignity after a hard fought battle with cancer. He is survived by his beloved family, his wife of 54 years Judy, son Douglas (Trisha) McLay, daughter Kimberly (Nevan) Krogan, grandchildren Kailey, Dalton, Shayla & Nicholas, brother David (Pat) McLay, sister-in-laws Ina McLay, Connie (Ken) Rogan, Missy Geffen, brother-in-law Larry Fisher, nieces, nephews, cousins and relatives in Canada and the U.K.
Doug joined the RCMP in 1964 and was stationed in Alberta, Ontario, B.C., Newfoundland, and Saskatchewan. He retired after 35 years service as the Superintendent of the Red Deer Subdivision in charge of central Alberta. In 1981 he graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) degree from the University of Ottawa. After retirement he started McLay Consulting Inc. and participated in many National Boards of Investigation. Doug & Judy loved to travel and went on many amazing excursions all over the globe. He loved spending time with his family and treasured his many friends.
