BOUTROS, Dr. Samih (Sam)


Dr. Samih (Sam) Boutros, 75, of Red Deer, Alberta, passed away on Thursday, February 2, 2017 with his loving wife Mary at his side. Born in Qena, Egypt, he lived most of his life in Red Deer however he served communities in Egypt, United Kingdom and Canada. Sam served the Central Alberta community for over 28 years with distinction in his specialty, obstetrics and gynecology.

He departed this world to join other family members including his son Alexander, sister Sophia, brother Rafik, his parents and many other loved ones and relatives. Remaining to honor his memory are his wife Mary of 34 years, children Mark, Leah and Simon (Kerri). Grandchildren Adrianna, Olivia, Sophia, Benjamin and Adam; loved and remembered also by siblings Camelia and Sabri. Sam faced the last ten years of his life with all of the disabilities associated with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (PSP), with outstanding grace, dignity and courage. When his body failed him, he continued to keep his cognitive function and sense of humor to the end.

A funeral service was held on February 4th at St. Mary and St. Mark's Coptic Church and he was buried at Alto Reste Cemetery.

A celebration of Sam's life will be held March 11th at 2 PM at Deer Park Alliance Church, all are welcome.

The family would like to thank the many friends and caregivers who showed love and care in the last years of his life.
