DRIESEN It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Albertus Antonius "Ben" Driesen on February 12, 2005 in the loving arms of his wife and surrounded by his family at the age of 70. Ben was born in Schoonhoven, Holland on March 11, 1934, the seventh of eight children. Ben met the love of his life Adriana in Holland and was married on February 9, 1961. Shortly thereafter, they immigrated to Canada and settled in Lacombe. Ben worked in construction, farmed and had his own small engine repair shop for 20 years until he retired in 1997. Ben enjoyed life by gardening, woodworking, stamp collecting, camping with his family and his love for pets. Ben is survived by his wife of 44 years Adriana and his children Maria (Richard) Kozoris of Vancouver, BC, Ben Jr. (Jacquie) of Ponoka, Ed (Lisa) of Red Deer, Marian (Sheldon) Graber of Grande Prairie, Robert (Lorna) of Edmonton, Veronica of Edmonton, Yolanda (Kevin Barnes) of Edmonton and Monique (Alan) Smith of Innisfail and his grandchildren Nicole, Kristina, Erin, Tyler, Daniel and Erika. He is also survived by his sisters Catherine, Gre, Sr Raymunda, Ali and brothers Harry and Theo all in Holland. Ben is predeceased by his parents, Albertus and Maria, brother Jan, and grandson Justin Graber. A Prayer Service will be held on Thursday, February 17th at 7:30 p.m. and a Memorial Service and Celebration of Ben's life will take place on Friday, February 18th at 1:00 p.m. both at St. Stephens Catholic Church in Lacombe. In lieu of flowers, the family would greatly appreciate memorial contributions be sent to the Lacombe and Community Palliative Care Society, Box 5576, Lacombe, Alberta, T4L 1X2, or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Alberta, #101 - 5208 - 53 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 5K2.
