Earl BURNEAU

BURNEAU Earl Edward Burneau of Penhold, Alberta passed away at the Red Deer Hospital on April 27, 2005 at the age of 64 years, after a long courageous battle with cancer. Earl was born in Sydney, Cape Breton, the eldest surviving child of Augustus and Margaret (Taylor) Burneau. His father died when he was 12 and Earl helped support the family with a series of odd jobs. He joined the RCAF in 1959 and in 1960 married Arlene Benjamin. After several Canadian postings and a tour in UNEF, El Tasa, Earl retired to Red Deer in January 1995, and then to Penhold in December of the same year. Active in the Boy Scout movement, he excelled in winter camping (-22o F). Earl continued his work with the youth after his retirement, taking his commission with RCAC until he was released because of cancer. Earl’s interest in computers led to his Programmer’s Certificate and work with the DEVIL Programs. In August of 1995 Earl joined the Commissionaires retiring in 2003. He was always willing to work for a good cause, and collected for various charities. After a bout with cancer he became a staunch supporter of the Canadian Cancer Society, participating wholeheartedly in the Relay for Life. Earl is survived by his wife Arlene; and his children Earl (Brenda), Ken (Trish), Dave (Melanie), and Andrew (Karen) and seven grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers Gus (Lori), Elmer (Rhoda), Doug (Shirley), Mike (Hilda); five sisters Florena (Ray), Rosemary (Brian) Theresa, Thelma (Gordon), Clara (Bill); three aunts; one uncle; several cousins and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, 2 brothers, and two sisters. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society. Prayers will take place at Metcalf Funeral Chapel, 4200 – 49 Avenue, Innisfail on Sunday, May 1, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, May 2, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. from Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Innisfail, Alberta with Celebrant Fr.
