With heavy hearts and great regret we announce the sudden passing of Edith Maureen Scriven (nee Bell) of Calgary, on Monday, April 19, 2010, surrounded by her family at the Foothills Medical Centre. Edith was born in Whitton, England, and immigrated to Canada as a young girl. She was the second of ten children born to Charles and Elizabeth Bell. She was raised on a farm near Kelliher, Saskatchewan and moved to Calgary around 1950. Edith had an abundant love of her family near and far. She loved gardening and cooking and taking care of her family. Edith leaves to cherish her memory her loving husband and soul mate Carvin Scriven; her four children, Edward Denniel of Strathmore, Judy (Jack) Rayton of Lyalta, Yvette (Ron) Burndred of Innisfail, and Fleurette Spreen (Randy McNabb) of Yellowknife, NWT. She will be greatly missed by her precious grandchildren that she could never brag enough about, Shawna (Cory) Wojtowicz, Danny (Joy) Rayton, Lacey (Bill) Cunningham, Trina (Mark) Jones, Jamie Steele (Kirsten Berg), David Steele (Loni Weselowski), and Sarah Spreen. She also leaves four great grandchildren, Colton Wojtowicz, Danika Rayton, Kenner Cunningham, and Kaitlyn Jones. She will also be lovingly remembered by one sister Beatrice (Lorne) Lightbody and three brothers, Fred Bell, Charlie (Wilma) Bell and George (Dolores) Bell; as well as numerous nieces and nephews she loved dearly. Edith was predeceased by her parents, her brother John Bell, and four sisters, Moira Watson, Audrey Collette, Vera McDonald, and Doreen Krause. A Memorial Service will be held at:
