Edmond CARDON

April 14, 2009

CARDON Edmond George April 20, 1933 - April 12, 2009 After an extended 4 1/2 year tenacious battle with cancer George passed peacefully away at home surrounded by his family. George will be lovingly remembered by his wife Annis; daughter Valerie (husband Kylie); son Randy (wife Kathy); grandchildren Stephen, Shauna, Landen, Sean and great grandchild Jenna. George is also survived by sisters Lorraine (husband Gene) and Helen (husband John); brothers Charlie (wife Myriam) and Bert (wife Marlene); and sisters-in-law Mary (husband Bob) and Dorothy Cardon. He was predeceased by his son Gary; parents Marcella and Louis; and brother Emil. Born in North Battleford, SK, George lived in Maidstone, SK until moving with his family to Bashaw, AB where he received most of his education. Always one for adventure, George joined the Navy and participated in the Korean conflict. Once back George met and wed Annis in Virden, MB, his bride of 53 years. Working in the oil patch, the family traveled and lived in all four of the western provinces and retired in Sylvan Lake, AB in 1987. While in Sylvan, George was a mainstay at the Meadowlands Golf Club on weekdays. Weekends he could be found out in the mountains fishing for that elusive "Big Onez". For 18 winters, both George and Annis could be found enjoying golf, warm weather and the company of many friends in southern Texas. His witty sense of humour and pearly white smile will be greatly missed by all. A Funeral Service will be held at the Chapel of the Sylvan Lake Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Rilla Sommerville. Cremation entrusted to Rocky Mountain Crematorium. The family encourages memorial donations be made to the Central Alberta Cancer Centre, 3942 - 50A Ave., Red Deer, AB.
