Edna Jean Dahlin

August 14, 1939 - April 1, 2017

Edna Jean Dahlin, 77, entered into eternal peace on Saturday April 1st, 2017 at the West Park Lodge in Red Deer Alberta. Edna was born on August 14, 1939, a daughter of the late William and Jessie Raine. She completed grade 12 and went on to nursing school where she graduated November 1959 as a LPN.

While in nursing school she met her future husband Widmer Dahlin. They were married August 20, 1960 and 2 years later welcomed their first child. Together Edna and Widmer had 3 children, Karen, Dan and Janice. Strong in her faith, Mom was active in the church community at Immanuel Lutheran in Rocky Mountain House.

She worked as an LPN in the Extended Care unit of the Rocky Mountain House Hospital for 25 years until her retirement in 2004.

Edna enjoyed curling and baseball. She took swimming lessons at the age of 40 and liked creating various arts and crafts. A great source of enjoyment for her was the gift she found in each of her grandchildren. She delighted in playing games and going for "worm walks" in the rain.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband of 32 years, Widmer Dahlin in 1992; her devoted parents William and Jessie Raine; her son-in-law Peter Skretting; her infant granddaughters Jessica, Kelsey and Janelle; her sister and brother-in-law Alice and Leon Berry; and brother-in-law Alvin Newman.

She leaves her loving memories to be treasured by her daughter Karen Skretting, son Dan Dahlin (wife Kathy), daughter Janice Bauer (husband Mark); grandchildren: Melissa, Matthew (Lisa), Zack, Ben, Nicole (Justin), Kody and Kassidy; sisters: Betty, Goldie, Peggy (Robert), Ellen (Floyd) and Mary; numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

Those wishing to pay their final respects, may do so at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, 5236 54st, Rocky Mountain House, AB on Friday, April 7th at 11:00 AM. A Funeral Service for Edna will be at the Immanuel Lutheran Church, on Friday, April 7th, 2017 at 1:00pm. Interment in the Pine Grove Cemetery will follow the service. A time of refreshments and memories will be back at the church after the Cemetery service.
