Edna Kokotailo (nee Martyniuk), beloved wife of Jack Kokotailo, passed away peacefully with family by her side on January 13, 2015 at the age of 89 years. Edna was very artistic, a keen bridge player and golfer, and enjoyed gardening, Tai Chi, bingo and occasional visits to the casino. In retirement Edna and Jack liked to travel in the South Seas, and to hike in the Superstition Mountains when they wintered in Arizona. They lived in Red Deer for 50 years, recently moving to Calgary to be closer to family. Edna and Jack were privileged to celebrate their 65th anniversary just after Christmas. Family was important to Edna.
She is survived by her children; Ron (Darlene), Reena and Robert (Samm); grandchildren; Iori, Luke (Lisa), Shawna, Rae (Suresh) and David; great grandchildren; Bryce, Logan and Liam; and honorary grandson, Ilke. Edna was the only child of Netty and John Martyniuk. On the Martyniuk side Edna is survived by members of the families of Joe and Olga Bobiash of Zelma Sask., John and Marian Janowski of Loon Lake Sask., "Marty" and Mary Martyniuk of Vancouver B.C., and Mike and Pauline Chipurda of Rosthern Sask. On the Kokotailo side Edna is survived by sisters-in-law; Elizabeth and Rollie, as well as younger generations of the Kokotailo line. A celebration of Edna's life will be held in Red Deer later this year with the date to be announced.
