LASIUTA

1940 - 2014

Edward Nicholas Lasiuta of Red Deer passed away peacefully in his home with is wife, Darlene by his side on Monday, February 10, 2014 at the age of 73 years. Ed was born and raised in Eston, Saskatchewan by parents, Nicholas and Pearl Lasiuta. Later he moved to Saskatoon and after graduation, he completed his Teachers Education. It was while in Saskatoon that he met his wife of 51 years, Darlene. It was love at first sight for Darlene and the two were married in Humboldt in August of 1962. For the next 46 years, Ed and Darlene moved around as Ed's teaching career took them to many small communities. In 2006, Ed retired and they moved to Red Deer to be closer to family. In retirement, Ed kept busy with volunteering at bingo and the CNIB. He was involved with the Knights of Columbus, the Lions Club and was President of the Sacred Heart Parish Council. Not only did he receive many awards and accolades for his dedicated service to the community, Ed earned the prestigious Lions Club "Melvin Jones Fellow" award of which he was very proud. Ed will be greatly missed by his wife, Darlene of Red Deer; son, Tim (Karen) of Red Deer and their children, Amanda (Jeremy) Rinas of Calgary, Geoffrey, Natasha and Joshua of Red Deer; son, Mike (Darlene) of Blackfalds and their children, Shawn and Dylan; and son, Glenn (Tannis Sweeting) of Red Deer. Also left to cherish Ed's memory are sister, Marjorie (Harry) Rawlyk of Saskatoon and numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends. A Memorial Service will be held at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 5508 - 48 A Ave, Red Deer, AB on Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made directly to the C.N.I.B., 4, 5015 - 48th St, Red Deer, AB T4N 1S9 or to the St. Vincent de Paul Society, c/o 5508 - 48 A Ave, Red Deer, AB T4N 3V6.
