Edwin KUJALA

KUJALA Edwin Walfred Kujala lost his brief and courageous battle with cancer, peacefully at home, May 03, 2008. Ed was born in Red Deer, Alberta, Sept 12, 1926. He grew up west of Sylvan Lake in the local Finnish settlement of Kuusamo. As a young man, he left his father's farm to sail on the West Coast in the Merchant Marines. He returned home and married Dorothy Olson, they farmed together prior to Ed landing a job with Canadian Gulf Oil. They traveled many places in Western Canada until they settled west of Sylvan Lake on their own homestead. Edwin was extremely passionate about his hobbies, which were Amateur Radio, Aviation and farming. He loved all that Mother Nature offered and his family was his priority. He maintained his lovely farm until his passing. He is survived by two daughters Karen Hyde (Kelly) and Deborah Longstaff (Ralph); two sons Darcey (Mary, Charlie, Jaxon) and Doug (Colleen); Five grandchildren, Leanna Grab (Russel), Lindsay Weidman (Tim Hyndman), Melanie Weidman, Steven Hyde (Coral), Rachel Murray and one great grandchild, Austin Grab; Special companion, Betty Darling and her sons Ron (Deb), Dwayne (Marg) and daughter Tannis Murray (Don) and nieces, nephews and cousins, and sister in law Arlie Olson. Predeceased by wife Dorothy; daughter Lois Ann; parents Elsie and Walfred; sister in law Martha; brother in laws Max Connelly and Steve Olson. Funeral services for the late Mr. Edwin Kujala will held at the Benalto Elks Hall on Saturday, May 10, at 1:00 P.M. Interment will follow at the Kuusamo Cemetery.
