WATSON

1924 - 2018

Eileen Margaret Watson passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on February 15 2018, at the age of 93 years.

Eileen is predeceased by her husband James, and sons Brian and Dale. Eileen was also sister in-law to the late Ethel Taylor, Red Deer's first woman Alderman.

Eileen was born May 11 1924 in Fulham, London England. At the age of 18 she joined the Women's Auxiliary Air Force, a division of the Royal Air Force, where she served as an aircraft fleet mechanic. She served until 1945, and it was during this time that she met her future husband, Canadian Trooper James Watson.

After the war, she immigrated to Red Deer, where she settled down and started her family. Eileen was also a member of the Royal Canadian Legion (Branch 35).

Eileen spent a lot of time with friend Barb Moore, who was also a member of the Womens Auxiliary Air Force and Royal Canadian Legion. The two friends sold poppies for the Legion and were involved with the Central Alberta Theatre in Red Deer for a number of years.

In Eileen's later years, she could be found doing a crossword puzzle or watching Jeopardy, always with a fresh cup of tea close at hand.

Eileen is survived by her seven grandchildren, Cari Hayden (Lee) and sons Lucas, Mason, Kade and Quin; Naomi Obenauer (Jason) and children Magenta, Cinamon, Bretten and Donavin; Andrew Watson (Sacha) and son Hunter; Christine Watson (Marty), John Watson (Dayanara), Conrad Watson (Erin), Michael Watson (Katherine); Daughter in-laws Carolyn Watson (Dave) and Maria Watson.

Eileen will be laid to rest with her son Brian in the Alto Reste Cemetery. Our family is at peace knowing she has been reunited with her husband and sons.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the Central Alberta Humane Society, 4505 - 77 St., Red Deer AB T4P 2J1.

Condolences to Eileen's family may be emailed to meaningful@telus.net.
