Eira SILVER

SILVER Eira Germaine Silver passed away at St. Mary's in Trochu on February 23, 2008 at the age of 90. Eira was born August 11, 1917 on the family farm 5 miles west of Huxley. Eira attended Acadia, Huxley and Innisfail schools. In the fall of 1937, Eira enrolled at University of Alberta to study nursing, graduating in 1940. She worked one year at University of Alberta hospital. The following year, Eira married Dave Silver and they spent most of their lives farming west of Huxley until their retirement to Trochu. Eira was a member of St. Hilda's Guild, Arthurvale, as well as a member of the Acadia Women's Institute for over 65 years. Eira enjoyed sewing, knitting, crocheting, quilting, reading and doing crossword puzzles. Eira was predeceased by her brothers, Ronald Hepburn, Dallas Hepburn, sister Doreen Howard, sisters-in-law Eunice Hepburn, Velma Hepburn, brother-in-law Andy Silver, sister in law Violet Silver, husband Dave and sons Donald and Leslie. Eira is survived by son Neil (Kay) of Huxley, daughter Germaine (Dick) of Calgary, brother-in-law Henry Howard of Innisfail and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A special thank you to Dr. O'Neil and the staff at St. Mary's for your care through all Mum's ups and downs. If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to St. Mary's Foundation, Trochu.
