Eleanor HOLLMAN

HOLLMAN, Eleanor (Nellie) Louise Hollman passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital on Friday, October 20, 2006 at the age of 83 after losing her battle with cancer. Nellie was born on Monday, December 25, 1922 in Red Deer, Alberta. She took her schooling at the Grassy Lake District and moved to Red Deer with her parents Fred and Florence Lawson in 1940. She was employed by Capital and Crescent Theatres until 1947 when she joined the staff of T Eaton Co. While working at T Eaton Co. Nellie met and fell in love with Fred Hollman and were later married. While continuing to work part - time at Eatons Nellie raised five children. Nellie joined the Women's auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion in 1948, where she held the position of President from 1959 to 1960 and many other offices throughout the years. She was a charter member as well as a lifetime member. Nellie enjoyed playing shuffleboard and took home many trophies. She had also been President of the Ladies Monday afternoon shuffleboard for many years. Nellie enjoyed camping and made many trips to the USA, BC, SK, Alaska and various places in Alberta. She loved baking and enjoyed making favorite things for her children and grandchildren. Nellie is survived by her children; Al (Elaine) Hollman, Saskatoon; Doug (Darlene) Hollman, Red Deer; Don (Cindy) Hollman, Red Deer; Marilyn (Steve) Butler, Regina; and Darlene (Dale) Mytton, Red Deer. She is also survived by her sister, Patsy (Doug) Blair, Calgary, and her brother, Wilf (Pearl) Lawson, Richmond B.C., as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Nellie was predeceased by husband, Fred, her parents, Fred and Florence and one sister. A funeral service will be held at Parkland Funeral Home and Crematorium 6287 - 67A Street, Red Deer, Alberta, on Wednesday, October 25, 2006 at 1:00 P.M.
