In Loving Memory ~

Elizabeth (Betty) passed away peacefully on February 13th, 2024 at Villa Marie in Red Deer.

She is lovingly remembered by her children: Sian (Jack), Anwen (David), and Huw (Lisa). Also cherishing memories of their Nain are her 6 grandchildren: Matthew (Breanna), Jonathan, Alicia, Megan (Owen), Catherine (Kristen), and Sara (Bryce). Betty recently became a great Nain with the birth of Kaycen to Sara and Bryce.

Betty was born on the family farm (Vale Farm) in North Wales to Humphrey and Annie Jones. She was the sixth of seven children and their only daughter.

At the age of seventeen, she entered the nurses' training program at Alder Hey Children's Hospital in Liverpool. On August 20th, 1955 Betty married Alun Williams and the adventure began. On their tenth wedding anniversary, Betty, Alun, Sian, Anwen and Huw emigrated to Canada.

Their first stop was Fort McMurray where they resided for two years. There must have been a lot of culture shock in those years but also a lot of amazing adventures. The family moved south to Red Deer in 1967 when Alun was hired as an elementary school teacher with the Red Deer Public School Board.

Betty worked at Michener Centre for many years and was a caring and compassionate nurse to the children on JPU (Junior Pediatric Unit).

Betty has resided in Red Deer since the move from Fort McMurray. She loved dogs (especially corgis) and Three Mile Bend was her favourite dog walking spot.

Betty is predeceased by her loving husband Alun, her parents, her six brothers and great grandson Beckett.

Family and friends will be gathering for an afternoon tea in honour of Betty on February 24th, 2024.
