Elizabeth “Jean” Dobler (MacDonald)

In Loving Memory Jean Dobler passed away peacefully after a brief illness with her family by her side on Monday, April 3, 2023. Jean was born in Red Deer, Alberta to Hector and Mona MacDonald (Ball). The MacDonalds were a musical family where singing together in harmony always played a central part in their gatherings.
Jean worked for the City of Red Deer- EL&P for many years where she formed numerous lasting friendships. She had an infectious laugh and a sense of humour and whit that her friends and family enjoyed so very much. Jean became an avid gardener in her retirement and enjoyed her garden that her husband, Ivan, had helped her create and nurture. She adored music all of types in which she found great joy and solace especially after the loss of her husband in 2014.
Jean leaves to mourn her three children: Jim Dobler (Heather) of Delburne, AB., Debbi McGillicky (Ross) of Red Deer, AB., Dan Dobler (Melanie) of Red Deer, AB., Grandchildren: Dustin McGillicky (Jamie), Landon McGillicky, Tyler Dobler, Terrin Hanson (Braden) all of Red Deer, AB. Great-grandchildren: Louis McGillicky, Miles McGillicky and Felix McGillicky, all of Red Deer, AB., Brother: Walter MacDonald (Eileen) of Chilliwack, BC.
Jean was predeceased by her husband Ivan Dobler, Father- Hector MacDonald, Mother- Mona MacDonald (Ball), Brother- Malcolm MacDonald, Sister- Norma MacKay (MacDonald) and Sister-Joanne Siep (MacDonald).
A drop-in Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 15th at the Mountview/Sunnybrook Community Hall from 2pm-4pm at 4316 – 32 Street, Red Deer.
