Elmer REES

REES, Elmer Mr. Elmer Rees, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather was born 85 years ago in Czar, Alberta. After serving as a private in the World War II, he settled in Evergreen with his loving wife, Isabel. In 1954, they moved to Red Deer to begin his twenty-five year career as a mail carrier. Elmer and Isabel raised five children, Jane Eileen, Margaret, Walter, Mary Ann and Brenda. Upon his retirement, he dedicated the next twenty-five years to making the Senior Citizen's Downtown House into his favourite home away from home. He helped build and then attended Sunnybrook United Church. Elmer was devoted to and is survived by his wife, Isabel, their five children, thirteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Elmer was predeceased by two brothers, Robert and Tim Rees; two sisters, Hazel Sheeler and Florence Walters and an infant granddaughter, Jennifer Funk. A Memorial Service will be held at Sunnybrook United Church, 12 Stanton Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. with The Reverend Jan Richardson officiating. Cremation entrusted to the Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta. If desired, Memorial Donations in Elmer's honour may be made directly to the Senior Citizen's Downtown House, 5414 - 43rd Street, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 1C9 or to the Sunnybrook United Church, 12 Stanton Street, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 0B8.
