BURNDRED Elsie Violet (nee Bull) February 24, 1928 - May 11, 2009 Elsie Violet Burndred, beloved Mum, Grandma and "GG", passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Monday, May 11th, 2009 at the age of 81 years. Elsie was born in Clandonald, Alberta on February 24, 1928. She worked as a school secretary for the Calgary Board of Education, retiring in 1984. Elsie was very active in many community organizations, and was a tireless volunteer for the Canadian Diabetes Association, the Alzheimer's Association of Calgary, the Colonel Belcher Hospital and the Ogden House Seniors Club, where she was a member of the Railroad Rascals Kitchen Band. In 2005 Elsie was honoured with the Province of Alberta Centennial Award for her volunteerism and community involvement. Elsie's memory will live on in her family: her three children: Lenore (Malcolm) Ellard, Ron (Yvette) Burndred, and Charlene (Tony) Cleator; as well as her six grandchildren: Nathan (Cindy) Ellard, Natasha (Dave) Cook, Nadine (Dan) McEwing, Lacey (Bill) Cunningham, Trina (Mark) Jones, and Ryleigh Cleator. She will also be missed by her seven great-grandchildren: Conley & Matilda Cook, Alexis, Colby & Aiden McEwing, Kenner Cunningham and Kaitlyn Jones. She is also survived by one sister Phyllis Olsen, one brother Vic (Bev) Bull and a large extended family of sisters and brothers in law and much loved nieces and nephews. Elsie was predeceased by her loving husband Ernie in 1998 after 51 years of marriage; as well as her sister Evelyn Mueller and brother Reg Bull. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY'S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
