July 13, 1930 - September 7, 2021
Our family would like to share that our dear Mom, Grandmother & Great Grandmother, Ethel Spiller, passed away peacefully on September 7, 2021 at the age of 91. She will be greatly missed by her daughter, Nancy, and sons, Bill & Ben, their spouses and their families including 6 grandchildren & 5 great grandchildren. Ethel is reuniting with her predeceased husband, Bill, and son, Jim.
Ethel was born in Regina and was raised in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. After marriage, she and Bill moved their young family to Red Deer, Alberta. They were immediately very active within the St. Leonard's Anglican Church community from very early on in the Parish's inception.
She was a strong volunteer involving herself in the good work of the ACW there and was prominent for decades within the Church Choir where she eventually achieved the honour of being "Choir Mom".
That was that something she was very proud of and is an example of the great relationship she had with her many amazing friends at St Leonard's.
Faced with the sudden and early death of her husband in 1973, Ethel's greatest achievement was the strength she had at keeping her family growing and raising us all to enjoy and love life.
A service for everyone who knew our Mom will be held at St Leonard's Church in Red Deer on Friday, September 17, 2021 at 1 pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Ellis Bird Farm, a place of peace and beauty which she enjoyed with all of us. ellisbirdfarm.ca
