LEIER Emily Ina Leier of Red Deer passed away at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Monday, November 6, 2006 at the age of 92 years. She is lovingly remembered and will be forever cherished by her family, four children: Donna Goller of Vernon, BC, Ray Leier of Mildred, SK, Barry (Kay) Leier of Porcupine Plain, SK and Brenda (Gerry) Alfano of Red Deer, AB. Nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren: granddaughter Valerie (Stuart) Simon, granddaughter Karen Stetz and children Michael and Erik, Grandson Randy (Tracey) Leier and daughter Kaela, granddaughter Tara (Michael) Moore and children Evan and Jenessa, granddaughter Carla (Les) Klein and their children Allison and Mitchell, granddaughter Jana Leier and children Kayla and Tyrell, Grandson Greg Leier, Grand daughter Erin (Robert) Holt and daughter Katherine and grandson Dan Alfano. Emily is also survived by her sister-in-law Rose Smith, sister-in-law Marion Underwood and brother-in-law Bradley Shore. She was predeceased by her husband Victor, infant sons Larry and Gregory, her parents Charles and Emily Underwood, brother Cliff Underwood, son-in-law Albert Goller, grandson Ken Leier as well as by many relatives and friends. Emily was born in Richard, Saskatchewan to Charles and Emily Underwood. The family lived in various locations in Ontario, Manitoba and Saskatchewan before settling in the Woodhill District of Saskatchewan. As a young adult, Emily lived and worked at the University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. In 1938 Emily was wed to Victor Leier, together they farmed for a living and raised their children in the district near Mildred, SK. In 1967, Emily and Victor moved to Red Deer where Emily was employed at the Red Deer General Hospital. She enjoyed working at the hospital until her retirement. Emily loved reading, swimming, exercise classes, walking Red Deer's paths and traveling. She was a kind, genuine and caring person who will be truly missed by her family and friends. A Graveside Service will be held to celebrate the life of Emily Ina Leier at Alto Reste Memorial Gardens, Red Deer County on Friday November 17, 2006 at 11:00 a.m. with Funeral Celebrant Brenda Watts officiating.
