FOLKERTSMA Emma Folkertsma "stepped over the threshold" to be with her Lord and Saviour on Sunday, October 7, 2007 in the company of her loving family. Mourning the loss of their mother: Bernice (Erich) Tapp, Dick (Roxanne) Folk, Aggie (Detlef) Bollhorn, Margaret (Ken) Newington, and Yvonne. "Beppe"/Grandma will be missed by her grandchildren: Kevin, Teresa, Derek, Shaye, Dorin, Ronya, Wildor, and her great grandchildren: Madison, Morgan, Petra and Adrianah, nephews in Red Deer and Edmonton and family in the Netherlands. Emma was predeceased by her daughter, Berendine in 1946 and by her husband, Bart in 2003. She was born Ymkje Bakker in Leeuwarden, Friesland, the Netherlands on June 2, 1917. Emma was truly an amazing woman. She overcame many adversities in life with courage and strength. Her positive outlook on life is an inspiration to all who knew her. Emma had many friends who will miss her. The family wishes to especially thank Merle & Henny Oosterhoff for their unending love and friendship for Emma. Thanks to Dr. Donnelly for her exceptional care and compassion, and also to the staff on Unit 33 and 32 Palliative Care at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre. A Memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at the First Christian Reformed Church, 16 McVicar Street, Red Deer at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Rehoboth #106, 3505 - 29 St. NE, Calgary, AB, T1Y 5W4 or on line at www.rehoboth.ab.ca.
