This is not a hagiographic presentation, Eric was born in North Bay, Ontario on February 24, 1948, to Helen and Newman Bryer. He spent his life working in the Telecommunications industry, loving it and the many friends he made during that time. As a lifelong learner he attended several institutions which culminated in his MBA degree in 2002 and his interests included sailing, helicopters, electronics/amateur radio (VE3HF/VE6HFF), mountain camping, volunteering and reading. Predeceased by his mother-in-law Christine Schaab, father Newman Bryer (Helen), wife Louise Schaab-Bryer, father-in-law John Schaab, brother-in-law Fritz (Agnes) Kohler, brother-in-law Harold (Marlene) Donovan, mother-in-law Clara Donovan, sister-in-law Patricia (Dale) Hillman, sister-in-law Mary (Doug) Munro, brother-in-law Phil (Catherine) Donovan, and grand-daughter Kirsten Denney. Eric is survived by his loving wife Sheila Carlson and stepchildren Sherry Carlson, Monica (Neil) Sagan and their children Cali, Ella and Noah, Kevin (Krista) Carlson and their children Donovan and Cameron, his sister Doreen (Karl Dittman) Bryer and their children, brother Bruce Bryer, brother Keith (Glad) Bryer and his mother Helen. Eric is also survived by in-laws, cousins, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Eric would like to thank all his friends, family and the medical staff in Calgary (Tom Baker Cancer Clinic) and Red Deer (Regional Hospital) who helped him live as much as possible a normal life these last several years. Service at St. Luke's Anglican Church in Red Deer Thursday, April 24, 2025 cremation and interment at the Red Deer Alto Reste Cemetery Columbarium.
