ERICHSON

December 15, 2008

ERICHSON 1935 - 2008 Raymond (Ray) Donald, beloved husband of Annice Erichson of Red Deer, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Thursday, December 11, 2008 at the age of 72 years. Ray was born on December 27, 1935 near Gadsby, Alberta. He was raised on the family farm near Gadsby and graduated from the Gadsby School. It was there that he met Annice Haner, who he married in 1957. Ray began working for Chrysler Canada at the Regional Parts Centre when it first opened in Red Deer in 1956, and he worked there until his retirement in 1992. Ray always enjoyed talking with the Chrysler dealerships and service departments across Western Canada, and would often stop in to visit them if he was in their area on vacation. Ray was an avid curler and skipped many teams. He loved to bonspiel and would often enjoy watching games at the Red Deer Curling Club. In later years, he never missed a big game on TV. Ray especially loved to spend time with his family and was the number one fan at his children and grandchildren's sporting events. He would come out to watch swimming, volleyball, basketball, curling, hockey and soccer. Ray enjoyed playing cards, camping in his trailer and loved huge campfires in the campgrounds and in his back yard, with family and friends. Ray had a great sense of humour, and loved to have fun. Everyone who knew him, family, old friends and new, and the nurses on Unit 33, who didn't know him long, always said he really was quite a character. "Everybody loved Raymond!" He is survived by his beloved wife Annice of Red Deer, a daughter Lois Erichson and her children, Perry, Duncan and Haley Cramer of Red Deer, his son, Scott Erichson, his wife Jana, and their children Dayna and Jilaine Erichson of Red Deer. He is also survived by his brother, Bill Erichson and his wife Eileen of Vancouver, British Columbia, his sister, Alma Thompson of Stettler, Alberta, as well as many sister and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, Bill and Nellie Erichson, of Stettler, Alberta. At Ray's request, there will not be a funeral service. A private family gathering will be held at Gadsby Cemetery at a later date. Cremation entrusted to Central Alberta Crematorium, Red Deer, Alberta.
