ERVIN Mr. Donald Douglas 'Donnie' Ervin, beloved husband of Mrs. Alice Ervin of Red Deer, passed away peacefully at the Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre on Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at the age of 73 years. Donnie was born on July 11, 1932 at Leduc, Alberta. He was a very dedicated and committed employee and spent over twenty -five years working for Northwestern Utilities, now Atco Gas. Donnie was a very loving and caring husband, stepfather, step grandfather, step great grandfather and a trusted and devoted friend. He was one of the nicest persons one could ever meet. Donnie had a huge heart and was a very good natured and caring man. Children were attracted to his fun loving personality like a magnet and Donnie loved playing and having fun with all his grandchildren. After his retirement, Donnie loved visiting with his friends for a cup of coffee at his local hangouts. Regardless of holidays, nothing kept Donnie from going to his favorite coffee places. Being a regular for such a long time, he was eagerly greeted and thought of fondly by the staff at his hangouts and even had his own special chair. He especially loved watching sports, was always current on all political issues and he also loved traveling. Donnie was a man who loved life and lived life to the fullest. Donnie was a very special man who will be very deeply missed but lovingly remembered and forever cherished in the hearts of his family and many dear friends. Donnie leaves to mourn his loss, his loving wife, Alice of Red Deer, his step children, Cherie (John) Gwin of Drayton Valley, Alberta, Rodney (Donna) Odegaard of Edmonton, Alberta, Blaine (Terrie) Odegaard of Winfield, Alberta and Vernon (Mae) Odegaard of Leduc, Alberta, eleven step grand- children and one great step grandchild. He will also be sadly missed by his brother-in-law, Arthur (Lorraine) Welsford of Ponoka, Alberta and many extended family members, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Donnie was predeceased by his parents, Ezekial and Mabel Ervin, his mother-in-law, Ruth Welsford on March 29, 2005 and ten brothers and sisters. You are invited to come and pay your respects to Donnie and his family at his Public Funeral Service which will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820 - 45th Street, Red Deer, Alberta on Tuesday, May 23, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Mount Calvary Cemetery, Red Deer, Alberta.
