STROHSCHEIN

Ettamae Margaret

1929 – 2014

Ettamae Margaret [Munro] Strohschein was born May 17, 1929 and passed away August 2, 2014 in Red Deer, Alberta. Ettamae is survived by two daughters, Carol [Blair] Mills of Regina, SK, and Diane [Delvin] Stebner of Red Deer, AB; five grandsons, Evan Mills of Calgary, AB, Graeme Mills of Regina, SK, Warren Mills of Regina, SK, Kevin Stebner of Calgary, AB, and Colin Stebner of Red Deer, AB; one brother, Glen [Helen] Munro of Didsbury, AB; and one sister-in-law, Ruth Munro of Olds, AB. Ettamae was predeceased by her loving husband, Raymond Strohschein in 1989, parents, Stanley and Margaret Munro, brother, Wayne Munro, parents-in-law, Edward and Alma Strohschein, and sister-in-law, Doris Sutterfield. Ettamae loved farm life during her growing up years in the Ardley and Delburne area. She enjoyed helping her dad with chores, loved sports, and was an excellent ball player, and in later years an avid Blue Jays and Edmonton Oilers fan. She attended Canadian Nazarene College in Red Deer, and worked at the Red Deer Bakery, and Michener Centre. Ray and Ettamae were married in October 1950. They attended the Red Deer Alliance Tabernacle [later Deer Park Alliance Church] as a family with their girls. They were always very involved in church life and it was an important part of their lives. Ettamae was part of the Women’s Missionary Prayer Fellowship, and later loved being part of the Willing Hands ministry, especially the quilting. For over 30 years she drove school bus for the Parkland School in Red Deer. Ettamae was a hard worker, loved outdoor life, and enjoyed gardening, and her flowers. The highlight of every summer was the “camper” holidays to the mountains, national parks, and visiting family and friends. After Ray’s passing, Ettamae became an adventurous traveller, visiting new locations all over the world. During the last couple of years, she received excellent care while living in the Symphony and Villa Marie Homes, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the many wonderful people who cared for our mom. Ettamae’s priority was always her family – wonderful helpmate to her husband, loving mother to her daughters, and much loved grandma to her grandsons. She showed her love for Jesus by spending her life giving totally of herself in all she did for each one – a wonderful example of sacrificial love. A private family burial will take place at Alto Reste Cemetery, followed by a memorial service at Deer Park Alliance Church, 2960 – 39 Street, Red Deer, Alberta, on Friday, August 8, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. If desired, memorial donations in Ettamae’s honor may be made to Compassion Canada, www.compassion.ca, or to the Canadian Bible Society, www.biblesociety.ca.
