BUCKLAND, Eugene Carl

Dad passed away peacefully at Old Hospital on December 27, 2016 at the age of 81 years. Eugene was the only son born to Eugene John (Jack) and Ida Buckland at Elnora, Alberta on January 10, 1935. He received his early education in Trenville and Elnora and later went on to further his education at Olds College for Agriculture. He married Mavis (Lee) on November 25, 1961 and they farmed in the Trenville area until 2006, when they moved to the Village of Elnora. Gene spent his final years in Red Deer and Olds.
He is lovingly remembered by his four children, Wayne (Joanne) of Vernon B.C., Ian (Nancy) of Calgary, Leanne of Red Deer, and Jackie (Lyall) Semeniuk of Stony Plain. He also leaves behind 8 grandchildren, Robert and Tyler Buckland, Kaylee and Tanner Buckland, Rachel Buckland, Randi, Kyall and Michall Semeniuk; 2 great grandchildren, Jaxson and Maverick Doucet; His sister, Annie Christina (Ted) Bilous of Fairview, Alberta; Three brothers-in-law, Mervin (Vicky) Lee of Calgary, Alvin (Angie) Lee of Sherwood Park, AB and Joe (Elizabeth) Lee of Lousana; As well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by Mavis, his loving wife of 50 years; his parents, and his sister Betty Lou; as well as grandson Jesse Buckland.
A celebration of Gene's life was held at Elnora Community Hall, Elnora, AB on Friday December 30, 2016.
