Evan ANDERSON

ANDERSON Evan R. Anderson passed away peacefully on May 29, 2009 at the age of 44 years. He was born on July 1, 1964 in Eckville, Alberta. He liked to live life to the best of his ability. He liked to spend time watching and talking about sports especially hockey. He found a past time playing on line poker that he excelled at. The most important thing in Evan's life was being with family and friends. Evans's proudest moment was when he received with honors, his diploma in social work, a true testament to Evan's ability to achieve what he put his mind to. He brought inspiration to many people that he met. Evan was admired by many for being able to get though all the obstacles that life presented him. He had a warm and caring heart and would help out anyway he could. People who met him would leave his presence filled with understanding of what it meant to have a physical ability. Evan was struck by a drunk driver in 1984 paralyzing him from the neck down ending his rig career at the young age of 20. Evan participated in the P.A.R.T.Y program, when it was first introduced, telling people his story by teaching and showing everyone the repercussions of drinking and driving. Evan is survived by his father, Harvey Anderson, sister, Trena Anderson, brother-in-law, Jeff Bensch, nephew, Brody Anderson (Dezaree Rempel), his grandmother, Jennie Shantz, his cousin, Dwayne Anderson (Shaundra and Jesse), uncle, Brent Shantz (Amanda and Nicole); as well as many uncles, aunts and cousins. Evan is predeceased by his mother, Gwen Anderson, Grandfather Clayton Shantz and his Grandparents Alfred and Olga Anderson. A Funeral Service for the late Evan Anderson will be held at the Condor Hall, Condor Alberta on June 6, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the Gaetz Union Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions in Evan's memory may be made to the Spinal Cord Injury Research, the woman's shelter and the pediatric unit.
