Evelyn Doreen Taylor of Calgary, AB, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 20, 2019 at the age of 88 years.
Evelyn was born in Lacombe, AB and grew up on the Hedemark family farm west of Blackfalds. While attending high school in Red Deer she lived in a dormitory during the week and upon graduation moved to Edmonton when she was accepted in the nursing program at the University of Alberta. The personal bonds established with her nursing classmates forged lifelong friendships after her graduation in 1954 and she enjoyed attending their sixty-fifth nursing reunion at Lacombe last spring. Evelyn married Ronald (Ron) Taylor in 1954 and two years later they started a family that ended up with four children in five years. Evelyn's passion in adult life was raising and nurturing her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family, and she was most proud of her family legacy. Some of her fondest memories were traveling the world footloose and fancy free with Ron, friends and family.
Evelyn is survived by her children, Mark (Wendy) Taylor, Lynda (Gordon Timm) Taylor, and Glenn (Karen) Taylor; she adored her grandchildren, Riley (Danielle) Taylor, Megan (Adam Robb) Taylor, and Adam's children, Adele and Marla, Kyle Timm, Mikaela (Joshua) Peters, Brennan Timm, Lexi Bentley, and Amanda Timm; great-grandchildren, Corbin and Cali Bentley, Lena and Layton Taylor, and Brielle Peters; special nieces, Tara MacEachern and Marilyn Brewster; her brother-in-law Ross (Colleen) MacEachern, sister-in-law Mary Kay Robert, and many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Ron Taylor, parents Martin and Gunvor Hedemark; her sisters, Carol MacEachern and Mabel Brewster, and her beloved daughter Sandra.
Evelyn will be interred in Queen's Park Cemetery with her husband Ron and daughter Sandra. A Service will be held at a later date. Condolences, memories and photos may be shared and viewed on Evelyn's obituary at www.McInnisandHolloway.com.
The family wishes to thank the caring staff at The Lodge at Valley Ridge and the Rockyview General Hospital, notably Dr. Dargie and the staff of Unit #57.
