FERGSTAD, Evelyn Gladys


Evelyn Gladys Fergstad passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Winnipeg, Manitoba on February 2nd 2017. A memorial service will be held in Alberta at the Red Deer Royal Canadian Legion on August 25th 2017 at 1:30 pm. The service will be a time of reflection and sharing to commemorate Evie's 93 years of life.

Evie was born December 12th 1923 near Round Hill, Alberta to George Bruce and Elizabeth Bruce/Pruden. She was predeceased by her ten brothers and sisters, her husbands Charles Fergstad and Mel Dawes, and her daughter Gale Fergstad.

Evie is survived by her sons Allan Fergstad and Bruce Fergstad, her step son Rick Dawes and stepdaughter Wendy Dawes. She has been blessed with many Grandchildren, Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren.

Raised in a Christian home, Evie believed in Christian principles and passed those principles on to her family. Having been a member of the Royal Canadian Legion in Red Deer and Airdrie for more than forty years, she was loved and respected by all for her Legion family. The Airdrie Legion honored her with this statement, "we honor her abilities, personality, loyalty and the depths of her love that helped make her the wonderful person she is. She has done so much for all of us in more ways than she knows."

Evie, you are sorely missed but your spirit has touched us all.
