FOLKERTS "We Rejoice In The Hope Of The Glory Of God". -Romans 5:2B Marretje (Oussoren) Folkerts of Blackfalds, Alberta went to be with her Lord on May 27, 2009 at the Red Deer Hospice at the age of 84 years. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Johannes (Joe) Folkerts (B-July 6, 1923, D-November 30, 1995) Marretje (better known as Mary) was born on February 6, 1925 in Kortrijk, Netherlands. Marretje and Johannes came to Canada from Holland in 1948 to the Brooks area. In 1957 they moved to the Springbank district near Calgary and in 1976 moved to a farm in the Red Deer area. In 1980 they bought a farm near Delburne. In September 2007 Marretje moved to the Blackfalds area. She is survived by her loving children, Emmy (Arnold Meetsma), Agnes (Jim Wolstenholme) of Calgary, Frederick Folkerts of Red Deer, Betty Reiter of Lacombe, Mary Joan (John Pyper) Blackfalds, Thea (Mike Farlinger) of Morrisburg, Ontario, John (Caroline) Folkerts of Pine Lake, and Henriette (Jack Haynes) of Leduc as well as 26 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sisters Ali (Martin Van Buiten) & Gay Van Herk and her youngest brother, Gerrit Oussoren. She was predeceased by her parents, Mattheus & Ermpje (Van Dommelen) Oussoren, her sisters Bep Hess, Emmy Fokker, her brothers Gerrit (who drowned at age 4), Cornelius, Henk, and Marinus Oussoren, as well as brother-in-laws Arie HoogenHoorn, Gerrit Van Herk, Cees Hess, Auke Folkerts, Klaas Folkerts, and Jelle Folkerts. Memorial services will be held at the New Life Fellowship Church, 20 Kelloway Crescent Red Deer on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. A private family internment ceremony will be held at the Alto-Reste Memorial Gardens in Red Deer earlier in the morning. If friends desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Red Deer Hospice Society, 99 Arnot Ave, Red Deer, T4R 3S6.
