In loving memory ~

Yiu, Fook Ying, beloved matriarch of the Yiu family, passed away on Saturday, March 1st, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. She was an astonishing 97 years old at the time of her passing.

Fook Ying was born on June 27th, 1927, in the Canton Province of China. In 1948, she married Yiu Man Hoi in Hong Kong and raised their family. Her family immigrated to Red Deer in 1976, and she began working at the Peacock Inn where she stayed employed until her retirement in 1991. Fook Ying was a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a large, close-knit family and she always placed the importance of her family above all else. She expressed her love through the creation of her homemade food which was meticulously crafted with love and shared with her family for all to enjoy.

Fook Ying is lovingly remembered by her children: Debra (Kam) Tong, Christina Wong, Dino (Sera), Hing, Wai, Fat (Kitty), Tat (Ying), Foo (Lori), Sing (Yan), Paula, Shun. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Garver (Erin) Wong, Robin (Carol) Tong, Travis, Trevor, Lionel (Yuki), Carmen (Jason) Young, Roxy, Mindy (Kit) Chan, Karina (Alex) Ho, Logan (Linda), YY (Lynda), Wallace (Angela), May (Tim) Tse, Hin, Tracy, Damon; and great-grandchildren: Karson, Liam, Jacob, William, Lukas, Alyson, Mckenzie, Ellie, Grayson, Lexie, Leila, Ethan, Pyper, Christopher, Brynlee, Emma. She was predeceased by her husband, Yiu Man Hoi.

Funeral Services will be held at Eventide Funeral Home (4820 45 St, Red Deer, AB T4N 1K5) on March 12th at 11:00 a.m. Reception to follow at the Phoenix Buffet at 1:30 p.m. Visitation will be held at Eventide Funeral Home on March 11th at 7:00-9:00 p.m.
