FOWLER It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Donald Robert Fowler in Calgary on Wednesday, April 16, 2008 at the age of 68 years. Don is survived by his loving wife June, of 26 years; his father, Bob Fowler; his sister, Gail (Gene) Weremey; his seven children: Steve (Judy), Jim (Fawn), Barbara (Rod), Linda, Duane, Cheryl (Bernie), and Denise (Ron); his loving grandchildren: Joshua, Christy, Sean, Jordan, Ali, Ryan, Dana, Leah, Dion, Robert, Kayla, Daniel, and James; as well as his nephews, Grant and Garett. Don was predeceased by his mother Ruth in 2005. Don was born in Calgary in October of 1939 and was raised in Drumheller, Brooks and Acme. He eventually settled in Red Deer where he has lived since 1972. Don formed "Don Fowler Distributors Ltd." in 1980. His son Jim joined the firm as a partner in 1990. The company grew steadily employing agents across Canada selling the Leanin' Tree greeting card line. Don joined the Elks Club in 1962 and remained an active member up until his passing. Don's involvement included patrol team piano player, judge and chairman, Red Deer Lodge Board Chairman, Provincial and Grand Lodge Chaplain, Provincial President in 1984-85 as well as Grand Exalted Ruler in 1998-99. He was especially proud of his involvement in the Stuttering Institute. Don enjoyed golfing, music, spending time at his winter home in Arizona and traveling in his motor home. A Funeral Service for the late Donald Robert Fowler will be held from Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 18 Selkirk Blvd., Red Deer, AB on Tuesday, April 22, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. with the Reverend Don Hennig officiating.
