POTUER

Frances Alexandra (nee Daniels)

Frances Alexandra Potuer of Red Deer passed away at Rosefield Care Center, Innisfail on Saturday, March 22, 2014 at the age of 74 years. Frances was born in Summerland, B.C. December 27th, 1939. In 1960 Fran met and married Albert Potuer. They raised their four children in Bentley, before moving to Lacombe in 1981. From 1974 to her retirement in 1992, Frances worked with a wonderful group of ladies at the Bentley General Hospital. She loved her work and the people she worked with. "Do your best but have fun too," was how she faced life. Frances and Albert returned to Summerland after retiring. Mom considered Summerland "God's country," a beautiful place where she grew up and had many, longtime friends. Several sisters also lived in Summerland and she was once again able to enjoy their company. In 1997 Frances returned to Red Deer, Alberta to be closer to her children and grandchildren and she met Ed Mahoney and enjoyed life with the company of a partner. She spent her time camping, fishing (mom did her fishing with her nose in a book!), dancing, painting, bowling and just being together listening to the click-click of her knitting needles while mom created works of art with the doilies she made. "Granny Frannie" as her grandchildren and their friends called mom will always be remembered as the fun loving, full of life, crazy Gramma that would be involved in everything they asked. Sadly, Frances required continuing care by age 67, most of the cherished "golden years" of life denied her, due to illness. Fran is lovingly remembered by Rocky Potuer (Sharon) of Red Deer, Kelly Potuer of Red Deer, Lynette Hansen (Lee) of Red Deer, grandchildren; Jennifer Peake, Courtney Fraser (Tom) of Blackfalds, Graham Potuer (Kara-Lee) of Cochrane, Victoria and Elizabeth Hansen of Red Deer, great grandchildren Nash and McCoy Fraser and soon to be joined by Graham and Kara-Lee's little one. Frannie will be truly missed by her sister Sheila Bates and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her infant son Kevin Potuer, Albert Potuer her husband of 38 years and her daughter Barbara Kim Dirsten, brothers; Michael, Harry and Denis, and sisters; Gladys, Peggy, Terry, Joan, Freda and Pat. A Memorial Service will be held at Eventide Funeral Chapel, 4820-45 Street, Red Deer, on Thursday, March 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial tributes may be made directly to the Alzheimer's Society, 105-4419 50 Avenue, Red Deer, Alberta, T4N 3Z5.
